Introduction
A Hobby Turned Career
At the time I joined Gale Healthcare, I wasn’t a seasoned brand designer. I was a graphic designer whose hobby of creating stickers and stationery had evolved into a small business. My professional journey within the company began as an Operations Support Specialist, but my determination to turn my 5-to-9 hobby into a 9-to-5 career drove me to find opportunities for growth within Gale.

One of my first initiatives was addressing the lack of standardized company signatures. During Gale’s period of exponential growth, I introduced myself and my idea to the Chief Marketing Officer, not realizing that their marketing team consisted of just two people who truly needed extra design assistance.

Recognizing the value I could bring, the company created a marketing position specifically for me. I became the sole social media content creator, despite having no prior experience in social media management. I quickly learned the intricacies of creating engaging and impactful content while also managing all email newsletters. This role set the foundation for my design career and showcased my adaptability and eagerness to grow.

As I honed my skills, I expressed a strong interest in UX design. This led to Gale offering me the position of Founding Graphic Designer, a role that allowed me to further shape the company’s brand identity while expanding into new areas of design expertise.
The Challenge
Building Connection and Clarity
After the pandemic with healthcare being in the state it was back then, the company needed a cohesive brand presence that bridged gaps between their diverse teams, clients, and clinicians. Employees voiced concerns about feeling disconnected, while marketing efforts needed a refresh to align with the company’s expanding vision.

Additionally, Gale was in the midst of a brand refresh, transitioning from their original red and gray palette to incorporate a range of blues. While the team initially leaned towards using sky blue as the official secondary color, I suggested opting for a darker navy blue instead. This choice offered a more polished and luxurious feel, elevating the brand's overall aesthetic.
Social Media
Building a Digital Brand Presence
When I took on the role of social media content creator, it was a completely new territory for me. I dove in headfirst, teaching myself how to develop and execute a cohesive digital strategy that would bring Gale’s brand to life online. At this point, I had somehow found myself beginning my dream career, I surely didn't want to disappoint!

I created visually engaging posts and campaigns that aligned with our evolving brand identity, ensuring every piece of content amplified the company’s mission. Through storytelling, I connected with clinicians, facility managers, and stakeholders, establishing a consistent and engaging voice across all platforms.

This experience not only showcased my adaptability but also solidified my ability to craft a compelling digital presence.
Email Campaigns
Engaging Communication
I embraced the challenge of creating email campaigns that felt both personal and professional. Using HubSpot’s HubL HTML technology, I designed and coded interactive emails that complemented our social media campaigns.

These emails didn’t just deliver updates; they encouraged employee participation, communicated directly from the CEO, and highlighted unique value propositions like per-diem staffing.

Managing three newsletters that reached over 40,000 clinicians, healthcare facility managers, and internal team members every two weeks was no small feat, but it ensured consistent communication and reinforced Gale’s reputation as a trusted leader in the industry.

UX Leadership
Redefining Internal Tools
One of the highlights of my time at Gale was leading the redesign of their internal recruiter platform. I worked closely with stakeholders to ensure the design aligned with both user needs and the company’s brand identity.

Developing a live prototype was a critical step, as it allowed for collaborative feedback and iterative enhancements. This project wasn’t just about improving functionality; it was about creating an intuitive and efficient tool that made a difference in the daily operations of Gale’s recruiters.

Amplifying the Brand in Physical Spaces
Bringing the brand to life in physical spaces was another exciting challenge. I designed custom RV wraps that celebrated Gale’s diverse clinician community and crafted eye-catching tradeshow booths that drew in engagement.

Even smaller touches, like branded wine gift labels with a tech-inspired, humorous twist, carried Gale’s identity in a memorable way. These designs combined strategic branding with creativity to leave lasting impressions.
Digital Branding
Bridging Remote Gaps
As the workplace shifted to remote environments, I saw an opportunity to enhance connection and professionalism through virtual branding.

I created branded video call backgrounds and letterheads that strengthened the link between physical and digital workspaces.

These small but impactful touches helped foster a sense of unity and belonging among employees, even from afar.
The Results
Elevating Gale Healthcare’s Presence
Through this multidisciplinary approach, I helped position Gale Healthcare as a leader in the healthcare staffing industry.

Each design I created, from email campaigns to UX prototypes, prioritized innovation, consistency, and storytelling.

The results included stronger engagement both internally and externally, a unified brand identity across all channels, and tangible tools that connected, inspired, and empowered.
